Today, we are talking about the Guitar model that SAVED Gibson in the 90s. The original "Les Paul Classic."
Gibson changed ownership in 1986 and it took them a few years to finally strike upon "the next big thing." A lot of this had to do with music tastes and stylings starting to change as well as a certain hat-wearing dude, but the Les Paul Classic is the first new model under Henry J ownership that TOOK OFF! These original late 1989-1993 Classics are vastly different guitars as compared to today's classics and originally ranked ABOVE a Les Paul Standard - let's learn more!
