The head of the U.N. Multinational Security Support mission in Haiti reaffirmed the mission’s commitment to curb gang violence and ensure democratic elections.

Hundreds of deployed Kenyan police officers are working to weaken the gangs’ hold, which has intensified since the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse in 2021.

The situation worsened in February when gangs launched coordinated attacks on government infrastructure, leading Prime Minister Ariel Henry to resign in April. (AP video shot by Pierre Luxama)
