CN trains in Atlantic Canada with containers for Nova Scotia 1991 - 2016

Описание к видео CN trains in Atlantic Canada with containers for Nova Scotia 1991 - 2016

In 1991 containers destined to Halifax & Sydney Nova Scotia were usually carried in general merchandise trains hauled by Alco/MLW locomotives. The containers were usually on modified flatcars. Over the years dedicated container trains and special cars to carry the containers have been introduced. Also the locomotives have become more powerful and the Alcos have been replaced by GM & GE locomotives. Trains have become longer, mid train or rear helpers (Distributed Power Units - DPUs) have been introduced and now locomotives with AC rather than DC traction motors are being introduced. All these changes are illustrated in this video which took about 60 hours to transfer from tape, to edit and to produce for display on YouTube! So please watch and click on the adverts - I get a small commission that helps pay for camera and computer equipment.
