How should you take care of your watch? How should you clean it? What should you clean it with?

These are important questions with important answers and the reason why I made this video. The 5 Secret tips below come from all my years of experience in the luxury watch industry and frequently asked questions I get from customers [DISCLAIMER: They're not really “secrets,” but since everyone on YouTube since to be throwing this word around, I decided I would do so as well! Lol].

Secret Tip #1: How to Clean Your Watch – Do's and Don'ts

I know that a lot of you are lazy, but cleaning your watch periodically is a must. To clean your watch, simply use a mild soap and water or jewelry cleaner, as well as a soft toothbrush.

Secret Tip #2: Rinse Watch After Using it in Saltwater

This applies to both saltwater or pool water, which contains chlorine. Make sure that you rinse your watch thoroughly when you go home. I like to put it inside a glass of water while I take a shower, so that it could rinse properly.

Secret Tip #3: Don't Shower with Your Watch On

This watch maintenance tip is important. Avoid showering with your watch on, so that soap residue (the same one that builds up over time in your shower) doesn't get all over the watch. It will also be easier to clean the watch if you don't shower with it.

Secret Tip #4: Never Wear Your Watch When Doing Something Mechanical

There's nothing more painful than banging your watch up while doing something stupid; something that you shouldn't be doing. That has happened to me once too many times with my Rolex watches. So my advice to you is to take your watch off before you partake in any mechanical activity.

Secret Tip #5 Never use a Polishing Cloth to Clean Your Watch

One side of a polishing cloth is for buffing. The last thing you want is to polish or smooth out the satin surface on your Rolex. It's there for contrast. The polishing cloth is only meant for the surfaces of your watch that are already polished!

Follow these five tips to avoid having to make any unnecessary repairs to your watch down the road. In the worst scenario, your watch will at least look much better all of the time!
