As part of the first annual Grassroots Game Conference, held from April 23 through April 29, 2012 throughout the city of Philadelphia, a panel discussion was held on the subject of serious games. Located in in the CBS Auditorium at the University of the Arts, a panel of individuals from a variety of backgrounds in and around the serious games, gamification, and health services industries gave advice based on their past projects and experiences, while providing insight into the creation of more useful, functional games and game concepts.
Represented on the panel was Thaddeus Squire, Founder and managing director of Culture Works; Vance Souders, producer of BreakAway Ltd.; and Howard Degenholtz, Associate Professor of Health Policy & Management, Associate Director of Research, Center for Bioethics and Health Law, and Director of the Doctoral Program in Health Services Research and Policy.
