Cassette Rip of the lone album by the Mexican Synth Pop / Pop Rock band Pedro Y Las Tortugas titled "A Veces".

In 1985 Juan Badillo (Guitar, Drum Machine and Vocals) and Pedro Gilbert (Keyboards) were classmates in the first year of high school at Colegio Madrid. They had already played together in the Cantera group, but they had distanced themselves, however, one day Juan showed Pedro the demos of some songs that he had composed on a small Cassio keyboard and the complicity was reborn.

They decided to form a band and invited Alfonso Elizarrarás, older brother of a classmate of theirs, but who was studying in other schools, they decided to use a rhythm machine, instead of inviting a drummer. Looking for a name for the group, someone came up in a moment of simplicity to propose Pedro y Las Tortugas. After laughing for a long time, it seemed like a great name. Juan liked the idea of mentioning a certain Pedro, who was not the singer's name and there was not even a particular reference to the keyboardist, who happened to have that name.
They built their own style based on the techno pop music, with lyrics that were the result of improvisation during rehearsals, some songs had been born since they played together in the Cantera group, such as the song Pastel De Mama, whose name was inspired by a fragment of the lyrics of No tocerte, by the Spanish group Radio Futura.

The result was a fresh and natural work, his first concert was at his school, in which they had technical problems, so it remained in his memory as a disaster. They continued to play quite naively in the face of what managing a group implied until one day in 1987, they heard on the capital's radio station Espacio 59 the call for the "Rock En Tu Idioma" contest, for which they signed up. They attended the qualifiers that were held in Rockotitlán, reaching the final (at the then Hotel de México) together with Los Amantes de Lola, but for the vast majority of those present the sympathy was for Pedro and Las Tortugas.

Remaining among the finalists allowed them to appear on the 1988 Compilation: "21 Grupos Finalistas Del Concurso Nacional Rock En Tu Idioma", in which the demos that the participating bands sent as a requirement to register for said contest appear. The information that appears on this album is confusing, since they do not come out as second place, although they were, in addition to the fact that there are bands that reached the finals and did not appear (this is the case of Baraja). Starting with the contest, promotion at Espacio 59 intensified, with Pedro y Las Tortugas being one of the most requested bands.

After this experience, Pedro and Alfonso questioned whether to continue in music and gave preference to studying medicine and psychology, respectively, leaving only Juan, who devoted himself to the mission of recording an independent album. For this he sought the collaboration of Jacobo Liberman on keyboards, Federico Fong, Agustin Bernal, Diego Rosas on bass and Armando Marín on percussion. They entered the Melody Line studio and released their self-titled debut album. This one also came out in 1988?. On the cover, Juan and "Pecas" appear crouching on a wall.

Juan debated between continuing with Pedro y Las Tortugas or going to study flamenco guitar in Spain. He ended up choosing the latter.
