On January 23rd, the second session of the 16th Shanghai Municipal People's Congress was held at the Shanghai World Expo Center. This year, several representatives and committee members are focusing on the construction and management of community canteens, hoping that this "heartwarming and stomach-warming" initiative will provide long-term assurance for the dining needs of the elderly.

Research shows that "meal assistance services" are the most concerned elderly care programs for middle-aged and elderly people. In response, Shanghai People's Congress representative Luo Minhong suggests enhancing the delivery service of community canteens, allowing the elderly to schedule meal times in advance and choose their preferred dishes.

He stated, "Community canteens should develop diversified, personalized, and market-oriented elderly care services, promoting the development of the 'silver economy.'"
