UN Human Rights Council to Consider Arms Embargo Against Israel | Vantage with Palki Sharma

The United Nations Human Rights Council is all set to consider a draft resolution on imposing an arms embargo on Israel. The draft resolution was submitted by Pakistan on behalf of 55 of the 56 UN member states in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), excluding Albania. The draft is also co-sponsored by Bolivia, Cuba, and the Palestinian delegation in Geneva. The eight-page draft calls on Israel to immediately lift its "illegal blockade" on the Gaza Strip and cease its forceful occupation of Palestinian territories. If the resolution is adopted, it would mark the first time that the UN rights body has taken a stand on the Gaza war.
