Fresh violence erupted once again in Manipur's conflict-ridden Churachandpur district on August 31. A group of unidentified men reportedly set fire to the house belonging to the parents of BJP leader Michael Lamjathang Haokip. The residence, located in Peniel village, was targeted by a group of over twenty people who also torched a four-wheeler parked on the property. This marks the third attack on Haokip’s family home since last year, with the latest incident occurring in less than a week.
