वधस्तंभावर खिळलेल्या त्या अपराध्यांपैकी एकाने त्याची निंदा करून म्हटले, तूं ख्रिस्त आहेस ना ? तर स्वतःला व आम्हाला वाचीव. परंतु दुसऱ्याने त्याचा निषेध करून म्हटले, तुलाहि तीच शिक्षा झाली असतां तूं देवाला सुद्धा भीत नाहीस काय? आपली शिक्षा तर यथान्याय आहे; कारण आपण आपल्या कृत्यांचे योग्य फळ भोगीत आहों; परंतु ह्याने काही अयोग्य केले नाही. मग तो म्हणाला, अहो येशू, आपण आपल्या राजाधिकारानें याल तेव्हा माझी आठवण करा. तो त्याला म्हणाला, मी तुला खचित सांगतो, तूं आज माझ्याबरोबर सुखलोकात असशील.
