We start on the approach to Grindleford Station, which is located on the Hope Valley Line between Sheffield and Manchester. Outside the station is Grindleford Cafe (or Grindleford Station Cafe), which is known far and wide not just for it's food, but for it's charm and collection of signs. The cafe is home to it's own spring and brand of spring water.

At the side of the cafe, the railway bursts out of the Totley Tunnel, where train from Sheffield emerge. The tunnel is 3.5 miles long and after the Seven Tunnel is the UKs longest railway tunnel.

Grindleford is a popular starting or end place for walkers due to it's proxiety to some of the areas finest trails. If we head over the railay, we can either take the path the the right up the spectacular Padley Gorge (on onwards to the Longshaw Estate), or continue straight on to join the River Derwent to Hathersage or Bole Hill Quarries.

We pass over the Burbage Brook, and pass the old Padley Mill. Around half a kilometer up the track, we come to Brunt's Barn and the site of Padley Chapel. Padley Chapel is a 14th century Grade I listed building. The chapel which remains standing was originally the gatehouse for Padley Hall (or Padley Manor), which the ruins can be seen at the rear of the chapel.

On our way back, we take in some of the steep descent of the footpath from Padley Gorge.

My channel was set up in 2020 mainly to feature my running adventures. I planned to film and showcase the days out and destinations my running travels took me. Mainly the Peak District and the sights and marvels of Sheffield and the surrounding regions.

However due to Covid restrictions, I found a new interest in researching and exploring old abandoned places - railway lines, canal, woodland, parks to name a few.
So the videos you'll find will be mainly be of those things. Of course, where possible I'll be running to my destination.
