Setting Up an EtherNet/IP Device on an Omron NJ

Описание к видео Setting Up an EtherNet/IP Device on an Omron NJ

In this video, Brad Vorrie walks you through the steps of setting up and EtherNet/IP Device on an Omron NJ.

EtherNet/IP is one of the most common EtherNet protocols used in the United States. Many manufactures of industrial devices utilize this protocol to monitor, control, or change parameters of their devices.

Omron’s latest machine controller the NJ, offers this as one of their standard options.

One of the first things that is required to set up an EtherNet/IP device to the NJ is an EDS file, or electronic data sheet. This is simply a text file used by the network configuration tool to help identify products and commission them on the network. In order to comply with the ODVA’s standard for EtherNet/IP, each manufacturer should supply this file.

For those manufactures that don’t provide this file, or if the file is difficult to find, there is a Generic EDS file available.

When a Generic EDS file is used, you will need to find the following information:
-The Input Instance and Size
-Output Instance and Size

Input and Output Instances are simply the address in the device where the information is located. You will also need to know how much information is being provided, in bytes.

An example of this would be an Input Instance of 100 with a size of 50 bytes and Output Instance of 150 with a size of 4 bytes.
