On the occasion of World Mental Health Day, we invite you to revisit the 4th Sitar for Mental Health Experience in New York, held on September 22, 2024 at All Souls NYC. This sold-out gathering welcomed over 600 attendees into a powerful space of meditation, music, and mental health awareness, fostering a deep connection between traditional Indian music therapy and modern well-being practices.
The event featured a remarkable ensemble of musicians, including Dr. Dale Stuckenbruck, Alex Desiveres, Luca Rosenfeld, Ricky Petreglia, and Nitin Mitta. Together, we created a soulful fusion of classical and contemporary music, uniting diverse sounds to inspire peace, mindfulness, and healing.
Before the show began, my father, the legendary master luthier Sanjay Rikhiram Sharma, hosted a special pop-up demonstration of sitars. His lifelong passion for crafting these instruments, deeply rooted in Indian tradition, added a unique and meaningful dimension to the event, connecting our guests with the history and artistry behind the music.
As part of my 26th birthday week celebration, the day unfolded with moments of calm reflection through meditation, vibrant community interaction, and, most importantly, the joyous energy of live music. Sitar for Mental Health is about more than just performance—it's about creating a safe space for people to explore their emotions, find balance, and embrace mental well-being through music and mindfulness.
This video captures the spirit and energy of the event, as we continue our mission to raise awareness about mental health and shine a light on the healing power of music. Thank you to everyone who made this day so special and for being a part of this incredible journey.
Watch the highlights and feel the transformative power of sound and connection! 🌿🎶
Special Thanks to Mr. Poonacha, Manjul Sharma, Namrata Misra, Vishali Bawa, All Souls, and the production team who wonderfuly played their parts in making it a lifelong memory.
