Repolarization

Описание к видео Repolarization

About Video -
Repolarization is the process by which the membrane potential of a neuron or muscle cell returns to its resting state after depolarization. It occurs after an action potential, where the cell has briefly become more positively charged due to the influx of sodium (Na⁺) ions. During repolarization, potassium (K⁺) ions flow out of the cell, restoring the negative charge inside the membrane. This phase is critical for resetting the cell's electrical state, allowing it to fire another action potential if necessary. Repolarization ensures that the cell can maintain proper function in nerve signal transmission or muscle contraction.
