NYC terrorist attack: FBI arrests college student for alleged ISIS-inspired plot - TomoNews

NEW YORK — The FBI arrested a Queens college student on Saturday on suspicion that the young man was plotting to carry out a terrorist attack in New York City on behalf of ISIS.

Authorities first noticed Munther Omar Saleh, 20, after Saleh was twice seen walking around on the George Washington Bridge. After monitoring Saleh’s communications for months the FBI noticed that Saleh expressed support for ISIS and their actions.

Authorities say that the Queens resident was searching on the internet for information about knives, guns, and materials used to build bombs. Court papers say that Saleh spent hours looking up information on how to build pressure cooker bombs and about various New York landmarks. He also spent hours reading accounts of the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Saleh was arrested last Saturday after he and a co-conspirator confronted FBI agents who had been conspicuously tailing them. A Smith & Wesson folding tactical knife was found on Saleh upon his arrest.
