I think we all need reminders of the ordinary magic around us. Here’s one from my life.
On June 12, 2023, I was Googling the deeper spiritual meaning of the wild coincidences that kept showing up in my life. I found a video telling a story about Carl Jung and one of his patients, who dreamed of a golden scarab. As they were talking about the symbolism of the scarab beetle, a real scarab tapped on the window. Jung opened it, and it flew in.
I mean… what?
The story came from Jung’s book Synchronicity, so I decided to order it.
That same evening, I was outside with my husband, eating ice cream, when I noticed a giant insect. Something I’d never seen in our ten years here. It was flying upright, almost like Superman. Then… another one.
And suddenly it hit me.
It had to be a scarab beetle. Just like in Jung’s story.
I ran inside to check online. And yep. I was right.
More than two years later, that’s still the only day I’ve ever seen a real scarab beetle in my life. If that’s not higher magic winking at us from the other side… tell me, what is?
