Background
Usually CI/CD processes are handled by a single tool like Jenkins, Github Actions etc, which handles application build, push and deploy to the kubernetes cluster. While this approach is fine and works quite well, I prefer to separate the CI and CD process to different tools because using a GitOps tool like ArgoCD provide better visibilty for development and other team to the application deployment process which can sometime become a black box only understood or accessible to the OPS team.

In this set of tutorials I will wear a double hat of being the application developer and the DevOps engineer that will deploy the app.

Steps to achieve this goal
Dockerise the application (a simple golang web api)
Create the kubernetes files that will be used for deployment to the kubernetes cluster
Use IaC(Terrraform) to create VPC, EKS, ECR and RDS(postgres)
Install Cert Manager, Sealed Secret and other resources on the EKS
Deploy ArgoCD on the EKS cluster, connect the CD github repository to ArgoCD
Setup Github Actions Workflow to build application artifact, docker images, push images to ECR and update the kubernetes deployment manifest with latest image tag.
Run and end to end test of the process and confirm functionality.
