Milburn Stone, best known as Doc Adams from Gunsmoke, became one of television’s most beloved figures. From his early beginnings in Kansas to his unforgettable role in Dodge City, Stone’s journey was filled with dedication and resilience. For two decades, he brought wisdom and heart to the screen, earning an Emmy Award and the admiration of millions.

Behind the success, however, he faced serious health struggles. In 1971, Stone suffered a heart attack, but with determination he returned to Gunsmoke, staying until the series ended in 1975. Sadly, on June 12, 1980, he passed away at the age of 75 from heart failure, leaving behind a legacy that still lives on today.
