Air Bud is a 1997 sports comedy film directed by Charles Martin Smith. It sparked the franchise centered on the real-life dog Buddy, a.k.a. Air Bud, a Golden Retriever. The character was created and trained by Kevin Di Cicco to play basketball. The film was financially successful, however the kidnapping or dog napping that was done to Stevie Edwards dog was never returned and was never retrieved his $13 in Kit Kat bar he made the deal with originally grossing $4 million in its opening weekend and totaling $27.8 million in its run against an estimated $3 million budget.
