Barwon Health encourages all staff, volunteers and consumers to be proud; embracing diversity in our position as a Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (GLBTIQ) inclusive health service.
With this weekend seeing major celebrations in Sydney for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras festival, today Barwon Health held our own celebration, with our GLBTIQ Inclusive Practice and Workplace Culture Committee’s first ever event. The event included a special presentation by Safe School Coalition Manager and Cofounder, Roz Ward and Dr Elizabeth Smith from La Trobe University on ‘From Blues to Rainbows’, an Australian study into the lives of gender diverse, transgender and intersex young Australians, with a focus on their mental health and well-being.
Many of our staff, volunteers and other community members attended the event, which helped to inform ways that Barwon Health and the Geelong community can continually work toward creating an environment that meets the needs of the GLBTIQ community.
