Two Old school muscle cars go head to head in a 1/4 mile drag race.

Both cars are competing in the Pure Stock Drags, so modifications are limited to porting, blue printing and minor weight reduction without altering the stock appearance. That means stock intake manifold, stock exhaust manifolds and street tires.

The 1970 Torino is powered by Ford's 429 Cubic Inch Super Cobra Jet (7.0 Liter) V8 which was rated at 375 horsepower and 450 lb-ft of torque. This was the highest horsepower engine you could get in a Torino in 1970. 375 Horsepower doesn't sound like much today; however, in 1970, these cars with minor mods were street killers.

The car in the other lane was built by the now defunct American Motors Corporation (AMC). The 68 AMX is powered by AMC's 390 cubic inch V8 rated at 315 horsepower backed by a 4 speed manual transmission.

The AMX has a 3.91 sure grip rear (aka positraction) while the Torino Cobra has a 4.30 posi rear.

Both cars are equipped with 4 Speed Transmissions so, WHO WINs?
