I have few very trusted Koi Dealers that have served me very well over the years! But I made a fatal mistake this year I brought a koi from a well-known koi dealer but one I had no dealing with before and will remain nameless.


The koi arrive and appeared healthy but looks can be deceiving a week and I noticed a problem with the pond. Scraped and found a loads of Costia, Trichodia and Gill Flukes. It cost me several good koi before I got on top of all the problems that one koi introduced to the pond.


How do I know it was this koi ? Well I had no problems for 12 months before this koi arrives so draw your own conclusions. Please like the video to help the channel grow!


This was the 300 gallon pond in the garage with this year's tosai one of the deceased was a 47cm showa at tosai and the shiro utsuri at 42cm also tosai which I had grown from fry. Gutted at my own stuppdity!


So what did I do wrong? I trusted the koi dealer! To supplied good healthy koi! How unreasonable to expect a healthy koi free of parasites!


So next time you receive a koi put it in a bowl and give it a scrape and check the scrape for parasites before you introduce it into your quarantine system!

Needless to say that koi will be the last koi to come from that dealer to me! I will simply Boycott the dealer and any dry goods I will buy elsewhere. That koi Dealer has lost any future sales from Me! No I will not be recommending them!


So beware of incoming koi with Parasites! Scrape the new koi and check for yourself don't rely on the dealer supplying you a healthy parasite free koi. The moral of the story stick to koi dealers you know, that will supply you with healthy parasite free koi.
