Breaking News: On Thursday, two unidentified individuals broke into the home of a local BJP leader in West Bengal's Cooch Behar district and opened fire, killing him. Prasanta Basunia, general secretary of the BJP local committee in the district's Dinhata area, was the victim, according to the police. Now the leader of the opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari of the BJP, has demanded a CBI probe into the matter. Adhikari said in a post on Twitter that TMC leaders in the area were defecting to the BJP. The party claims the Trinamool Congress is behind this incident as panchayat elections are approaching. "I have to say that any incident like this is unfortunate, but it has nothing to do with politics, and TMC does not believe in the politics of violence and killings," stated Prathapratim Roy, TMC district president.
