Out of the Office

Описание к видео Out of the Office

I'm outta here! I can't take it. I need to get away and leave this job. I should be somewhere fishing and relaxing. I'm gone!
Sound familiar?
Looking back, I used to feel like that a lot more often then I do now. Ten years ago when I made a living off a ladder, I would scramble out to the water every chance I got. It was a wonderful escape from reality. Now, occasionally I find myself staring at the computer with tired eyes, struggling to make a video worth watching and I reflect on those days when getting away was the answer. The call of the outdoors is strongest when you are discontent with your current situation. Although I have practically made the outdoors my normal, everyday mode of operation, I still feel it's call now and again. And it is occasionally a good source of inspiration as a writer. Many times I have paddled out with a blank mind and a camera and have come home with video and a cool story to tell. Or I found a new perspective that allows me to turn some unused, old video into a new, watchable episode.
Anyway, I have been sitting on this one for a few months now. It's the beginning of September as I write this. What you see was shot back in June. As always, I worry about promoting stuff that might make me look like a salesman. I cringe whenever I think that I might wear that label but sometimes I find myself thoroughly enjoying something so much that I am compelled to share it online nonetheless. The EBL power station thingy is something I use regularly nowadays even when there are no storms around and power is plentiful. Taking it out with me on the boat also adds the option for me to take my video production potential just about anywhere! Cool stuff.
Just like I do with my love for Pelican kayaks and their small boats, I try my best to only mention things in my videos that I use myself and would tell my friends about. The list of my most coveted items has grown quite large ever since I left the normal life to seek adventures as a content creator. Anyone can benefit from the things you see me often using, but many items have really increased in importance for me while I lived on the boat and now in the woods. I will list a few of my favorite stuffs that appear in this video below. Some will be links to Amazon where I can earn commissions. That would be very welcome since I have yet to find a store that will sell me beer in exchange for a power pack or a trolling motor ;^)

First, I'd like to thank Pete and Kourtney for their friendship and letting me use their music in this video. Here's a link to the video when I met them while traveling up the east coast...

Next Pelican. They're now together with Wilderness, Perception, Advanced Elements, Dagger, GSI Outdoors and Boardworks. All under the Confluence brand name. Although my heart has always felt best under the wings of Pelican, all these brands have some very cool stuff. Check it out here;

The EBL portable power station is an elite tool to have on hand if a hurricane passes by. I have lived in Florida since December of 2000 and have spent my fair share of days in the dark after the lights have gone out. It's a nice thing to know that I have this for those 'just-in-case' scenarios and for other times when I want to bug out but not be without my beloved (sometimes cursed!) electronics! You can see it here;

My Wonderboom speakers get played almost everyday. They make amazing sound with a good amount of bass. Almost too much! They are also waterproof which matches my lifestyle. I highly recommend them despite the highish investment. I pair two and it's really nice. Have a look;

One thing I didn't mention and is briefly seen but perfect for my kayak and boat adventures is the umbrella I use. For quick shade on these hot summer days while you paddle, there are few better choices. My friend bought one after seeing me use it. He bought the black one and I make fun that he looks like Mary Poppins on his kayak now! Haha. He loves it though. The umbrella. Not my ribbing :^) Here's the link...

Last I will leave a link to the Bixby trolling motor I have on the front of the Pelican Intruder. I added the 'X3' in case you didn't know, along with a whole lot of other stuff which made it tough to find a trolling motor that would fit up front on the mount provided by the factory. The Bixby not only is small but powerful enough to move around this boat all day. It's not the cheapest choice in the market but it is a nice thing to have, that's for sure. Here's a link in case you want a closer look...
