Food systems are responsible for approximately one-third of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide, and U.S. agriculture is responsible for the bulk of methane emissions domestically. Among the initiatives launched and pledges announced at COP26 are several that aim to promote climate-smart agriculture (CSA)—to reduce or remove emissions from agriculture, make agriculture more resilient to climate change, and sustainably increase productivity.

What is the role of advanced technology in promoting CSA? How can advanced technology help achieve U.S. goals under the Agriculture Innovation Mission for Climate, the U.S. Methane Emissions Reduction Action Plan, and improve food insecurity at home and abroad?
