Nebbiolo is indigenous to Piedmont and the grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco.

Historically, Dolcetto was the everyday grape, but Nebbiolo gained prominence in the 1980s–90s with changing tastes and climate.

Nebbiolo is early budding but late ripening, making it sensitive to vintage conditions.

The name comes from “nebbia” (fog), referring to the pruina on the berries at harvest.

Best results are achieved in Langhe, Alto Piemonte, and Valtellina, where Nebbiolo shows unmatched elegance and balance.
