Ridgerunner, Helsdon and ENO Skylite bridge hammocks comparison

Описание к видео Ridgerunner, Helsdon and ENO Skylite bridge hammocks comparison

A quick overview of these three interesting hammocks.

I set up my Ridgerunner for the configuration I use it, leaving the water resistant spindrift sock (sold separately) on all the time. The Helsdon has a pretty similar configuration out of the box with an integral but removable rainproof layer. I've done a bit of a one on one comparison of the two in this video. Both are double layer hammocks. For heavy duty rain protection, the Ridgerunner needs a tarp but the Helsdon would also benefit from a tarp as well in 'porch mode' due to the way one enters and exits and how the rainproofing works on it.

The ENO is newest of the bunch and needs a separate rainfly, I just took it along here to try out.

Weight wise, the Helsdon is the biggest and heaviest. About 6.5 lbs but add more if you decide to use a rainfly with it.
The Ridgerunner with Spindrift sock comes in at about 3 lbs. My rainfly, ridgelines and other stuff added to make it serve my needs adds about 2 lbs to that.

The Eno Skylite with Helios straps comes in lightest of all at 2.2 lbs. If I use my diamond shaped rainfly with it, the weight would be close to 4 lbs. I didn't think to weigh them together.

Add another pound or so for whichever sleep pad you use.

I'll get more of the ENO Skylite in the future. If you look at that last shot across the reservoir, the mist you see is actually the smoke from Canadian forest fires 1,000 miles away. The odor and volatile gases was a bit overwhelming and I started feeling poorly so had to cut it short. I didn't get all the shots I wanted or the quality. Besides, at this point it's still new to me and because it's a lighter single layer hammock and I haven't had the chance to match it up with accessories, it's not quite in the same category as the other two.

More to come.
