What are Spatial Approaches to managing biodiversity?

#Software and other #digitaltools can use maps, satellite images and species records to show where different species and habitats are. This can allow users to see how they are changing over time and model how they can be managed. Spatial approaches and tools can help land use stakeholders decide which areas most need protection, where to restore nature, and how to plan human activities to leverage and conserve #biodiversity.


So What is FEAST?

The Farmland Ecosystem Assessment Support Tool, FEAST, is a software application developed by the University of Hertfordshire's AERU team. The pilot tool helps land managers, NGOs and Policymakers spatially assess the impact of agricultural land use decisions on biodiversity and ecosystem services. Funded since 2014 by projects including QuESSA and the EFA’s Calculator project, more recently, the tool has been updated with new features and case studies as part of the European Union’s H2020 FRAMEwork project.

What is H2020 FRAMEwork?

This Horizon Europe project has been running since 2020. It involves a consortium of 18 partners implementing Farmer Clusters across 10 European countries, to pilot and research collaborative biodiversity management at a landscape scale.
