Fermonic 60 has a 'special power', the ability to resist galling. It is therefore used in applications such as couplings, connectors and valves where stress-free operation is required even if the component has not been operated for an extended period.

It is an austenitic stainless steel, with medium levels of strength and corrosion resistance. However, additions of silicon provide the unique non-galling physical properties.

Langley Alloys stocks Fermonic 60 (Nit60) as solid round bars in a range of diameters.
