Silent Minecraft Let's Play #9

Hello again. In this episode, I finish the creation of the outer tower finally. That means the fun part is almost over, because after this episode, it's back down into the tunnels we go. I wanted to create some sort of chamber to the left of the entrance of the base, but I wasn't exactly sure how to do that due to the lack of space. I think the tower is a very nice looking compromise, and the ladder access to the bedroom will be both convenient and a neat novelty. I very much enjoy it when rooms, areas, and places loop in on themselves. It creates a sense of mazelike cohesion, and seeing the way that spaces exist in relation to each other seems to be inherently satisfying to people. I've seen people say the same things about Dark Souls 1, a game I'm very familiar with. In fact, a lot of my modern construction habits are inspired by that game and others like it. I love creating spaces that are uncanny, and subtly unnerving. Unnatural and unwelcoming, yet still has a particular taste to it that I can't describe. A sort of satisfaction, that makes me want to explore these sorts of infinite mazelike structures forever. This topic is touched on in concepts like modern liminal horror as well, although I dislike how flanderized modern horror topics become so swiftly. I've never found "liminality" to be uncomfortable, or frightening in any form. With the sole exception of "the Backrooms", I find the concept and most examples of it to be comforting. I feel... connected to these sorts of spaces. My soul and heart feel most complete when creating, existing in, or viewing spaces like that. I cannot explain it better than that. I love the slight uncanniness, the unevenness yet perfect construction, the labrynth of rooms and hallways that could go on forever, looping in on itself like a grand, lovely maze. Of course, I imagine being in one of these places for real would be terrifying, but in theory, and especially in videogames, I love it.
In particular, a videogame I think strikes this feeling very well is an upcoming indie title named Peripeteia. The demo is out, and I think you should go play it, it's very good and will probably be one of my favorite games of all time when it comes out.
