Knit's latest project with Nissan uses RFID and NFC mobile technology to encourage social sharing at a real world event in real time. Nissan's interactive visitor attraction, the Innovation Station at the O2, houses Knit's latest technology which enables visitors to share their experiences instantaneously via Facebook and email.

CASE STUDY:
Nissan's futuristic Innovation Station set at the O2, provides an immersive and playful environment for visitors. It focuses on the evolution of Nissan's electric vehicles including the latest Leaf model. Virtual elements, drive simulators and a whole host of interactive technological gadgets and games, take visitors on an entertaining and hands-on journey.

Nissan wanted to raise awareness of the Innovation Station and drive new audiences to the attraction. Nissan also wanted to build on the interaction and engagement that visitors experience, and through the use of RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) and NFC (Near Field Communication) mobile technology, we were able to help Nissan to further bring their exhibits to life. The automated social sharing features of Knit's RFID / social integration system enables social amplification to happen seamlessly in real time.

At the entrance to the experience, visitors pick up a Nissan-branded 'smart card'. Embedded in the smart card is the RFID chip which, once registered, transmits unique data and allows them to share their experiences via Facebook or email, by simply holding their card over the many RFID enabled 'hotspots' placed around the venue.

Visitors can also 'like' certain exhibits, comment, upload photos and share content via the RFID smart card or via their mobile phones through NFC.

With interactivity being key to the experience, one of the highlights of the exhibition is the Sony Playstation GT Academy driving game where players can easily upload their scores to Facebook along with a photo.

Visitors who take part and use their RFID smart cards, have to first register their email details, and/or connect via Facebook, which allows Nissan to capture customer data to use for future marketing campaigns.

Knit's technology will raise awareness of the Innovation Station to millions of people on social media and helps Nissan to engage with new audiences through the wide reach of social media. Results of the campaign have not yet been reported, but since our latest technological installation, results already show an increase in social interaction.
Nissan were delighted with how Knit managed and integrated their bespoke RFID / NFC social sharing system into the existing technology at the venue.
