Topping your Driver? What are the Main Causes?

Maria Palozola of MyGolfInstructor.com answers what the main causes are of a topped driver shot. Maria explains, that there are so many causes for any mishit or fault, but that commonly with topped drivers the golfer might actually be falling back through the hit instead of shifting their weight through the shot. Falling back causes you to swing up too soon and hit the top of the ball. You will also want to check the ball position. Many golfers play their driver too far forward because many are told to play it at their front heel. If you have a super wide stance, playing it at your front heel could actually make the ball sit outside your body or left shoulder. This will cause you to catch it too much on the up swing. Maria suggests positioning the ball no further than your left armpit to avoid that. Another reason you might be topping your driver is that you come out of your posture too soon and stand up.
