I first moved to San Diego thinking I would spend a few years with great weather and some palm trees before heading back to New York. But once I got here, I never looked back. Since 2013, San Diego has become my home. It's a community that I want to give back to and protect. That's why I joined a criminal defense team focused on giving every client clear, unparalleled guidance throughout the court process, so that you can still have some peace of mind and hope even during what may be one of the most difficult times of your life. My name is Ally Keegan, and I'm an attorney at the Law Office of David P. Shapiro, where we help good people regain control of their future when charged with a crime.

Navigating the criminal justice system can be difficult, frustrating, and outright exhausting. Even I feel that way sometimes and I know it's nothing compared to what my clients experience as they struggle with the uncertainty and often severe consequences that stem from criminal charges or an accusation. Far too often, from the moment you encounter the criminal justice system, you're deemed guilty until proven innocent, assumed guilty by law enforcement, the prosecutors, and sometimes even the judges.

You quickly realize that the cops have decided that you're the suspect, and they're not interested in getting all the facts. They're just interested in making an arrest. The prosecutors will probably follow suit and may charge you with crimes without having the required proof they need to convict. And unless you have a strong, committed advocate on your side, a conviction and all the negative consequences that come along with it may be inevitable. I know how much is at stake. And I understand that an arrest or criminal conviction is never just a legal concept on a piece of paper. We've seen firsthand how a simple accusation can affect your job, professional license, relationship with your family, the way you're perceived by those around you and maybe even the way you view yourself. As a criminal defense attorney, I take pride in being the one person who will listen to you and make your story heard, especially when it feels like no one else wants to hear it.
