A Climb of the Col du Portalet by Bike

The Col du Portalet - An awesome climb - just over 27km of relatively gentle (for the Pyrenees) climbing through impressive scenery including tunnels, canyons, dams, villages, avalanche tunnels and open valleys all the way from Laruns, France to the Spanish border on the top of the pass

We'd driven up it about 6 years previously and I immediately put it on my cycling bucket list and finally got the chance to ride it in the Summer of 2024. It was everything I hoped for

Light traffic and a surface to die for

Two hours of stunning climbing in glorious weather

Unfortunately the amenities at the top of the climb are not a lot to shout about

I have put the whole climb in the video at 4x speed because I did not know what to cut out. I have marked most of the kilometre posts just for reference to show progress

The descent was just as good!
