What To Do In Havana?

Описание к видео What To Do In Havana?

Havana does not offer much to do. As far as big cities go, it is pretty standard. Most people who have been to Cuba will tell you not to go to Havana for too long. You have to fly into La Habana, so you may as well see it and spend a few days there.

It’s not really a great city and it is definitely a bad city for backpackers. Most of the highlights are either blocked by the government and their soldiers or just don’t exist.

A lot of the monuments to the revolution are wardened off by soldiers. The museums are not accessible either because they’re closed or too far/expensive by taxi.

The food is pretty bad. You can go to 1-2 tourist restaurants and pay tourist prices, which is still cheaper than the US and Europe, for a decent meal, but there is nothing authentically Cuban about that.

As far as walking around, I did the walking tour and it provided a great history of Cuba, especially since the Castro revolution.

Havana Vieja has some nice parts and people watching is always a joy because they’re so friendly and kind. Ultimately it’s just not that pretty and has so many empty, half built, or destroyed buildings that it’s not pleasant to look at the architecture of the city.

There are some cool bars like Speakeasy and Melodrama, and El Dandy. 311 Art Space is a cool spot but it’s far from the city.

It’s just a tough place. I met so many people who loved Cuba but I did not. There is not internet, no food, electricity is spotty.
