A poster showdown has unfolded in Kolkata amid a visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alleges that posters of Amit Shah, which were put up in the Kalighat area, were removed overnight and replaced with posters of Mamata Banerjee. This took place as Shah was scheduled to visit the Kalighat temple. The BJP has officially filed a complaint with the Kalighat police station, requesting an investigation to identify those responsible for removing the posters. In response, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has denied the allegations. A TMC minister, Firhad Hakim, stated, “we have not done it. This is a wrong allegation and it may have been some BJP agencies who have siphoned off the money by not putting up posters.” The incident highlights the intense political rivalry between the two parties in Bengal.
