Описание к видео Zero Water, Triple Yield: The Desert Crop Monsanto Tried To Patent

Zero Water, Triple Yield: The Desert Crop Monsanto Tried To Patent | My great-grandpa's people knew a plant that could drink air, survive freezing nights at 13,000 feet, and deliver more complete protein than beef—all without a drop of irrigation. For 3,000 years, quinoa fed millions across the Andes in soil so poor that Spanish wheat died in weeks. Then we nearly erased it. Not because it failed, but because it succeeded without chemicals, without patents, without making anyone rich. In 1984, Monsanto tried to patent the salt-filtering genetics that indigenous farmers had been selecting for millennia.

During the Siege of Leningrad, Soviet scientists starved to death protecting quinoa seeds they knew could survive conditions that killed everything else. Between 1960 and 1990, the Green Revolution made growing traditional crops economically impossible, replacing quinoa with wheat that required fertilizer, pesticides, and dependency. But Quechua grandmothers kept the seeds hidden in ceramic jars, and now they're teaching a new generation why this ancient crop terrifies industrial agriculture. This is the story of how we buried knowledge that could feed the world, and how it survived anyway—in the hands of people who refused to forget.
