Dede is a Georgian drama film, this is the story of the male chauvinistic thinking that treats women like property.
Svaneti is a village situated on the snow-covered Caucasus mountain range between Europe and Asia.
It is in such a remote area that grain has to be stored before winter or else the road gets blocked by snow. Then everything gets blocked.
Today some boys of the village have returned from the war after a long gap. David is from this village and has brought his friend Gegi Bendeliani along with him.
Geggi had saved David's life in the war. When they were on their way to the village, Gegi told that he had met a girl from this village. They talked a lot to each other but could not express his love to her.
However, David found this thing very trivial, he said that if you like a girl then kidnap her, why is there a need to ask her for consent? Forced marriage is a common tradition here. He does not find anything wrong in this.
But Gegi definitely does not want a life partner who has to be kidnapped.
