If you'd like to watch Tim do an entire CLIENT SESSION, this is an opportunity to pick up a lot of lighting and posing knowledge with innumerable tiny details, for those you are pretty familiar with studio portraits and lighting.

When a particular family may only come in every 5-10 years, you do the most complete session you can, hoping to have a lot of great images to offer. We also hope for a wide variety in the wardrobe department, but when your subjects are pretty confident in what they like to wear, you've gotta roll with it and bring home your best! Nevertheless, most selections are made not by wardrobe, but by expressions impact and mood.
This video may be one of the last full-length (start to finish) behind-the-scenes that we offer up as most viewers highly prefer shorter (and more compressed, directly instructional) videos. That works for us! It took us a long time to get this thru post production.

We are using Canon 5D Mark IV and Mark II cameras, almost always with Canon's 70-210 lens. Normal camera settings with our Photogenic PowerLight studio strobes would be: ISO 100, shutter: 1/160 sec and an average aperture of f/9.5. Larson 3' x4' Soffbox Main, 4'x6' Soffbox Fill, 12"x30" Soffstrip Hair/Separation Light, and a Medium Grid on PowerLight for Background Spot. We also employ a Standing White Reflector for the major fill and a 32" Round Reflector for use, as needed. A final set of poses with a 20" BEAUTY DISH was very successful, as well.
