Fastpitch Softball - Professional Catcher Pop Times

Описание к видео Fastpitch Softball - Professional Catcher Pop Times

The entire first season of Athletes Unlimited was used to create this video. Times were all taken from video at 30 fps, so the error rate is ~1/30 of a second. My opinions below are based on limited data, so please understand the potential for error there. Also, throwing is only one part of catching, and is not the most important part. All these catchers are amazing in their relative strengths, so please keep it positive.

Aubree Munro is clearly the best thrower. Regardless of pitch location, she consistently has a fast time and makes accurate throws. Paige Halstead is probably #2, even with limited play time. I've seen enough college footage to say she's a similar caliber thrower to Aubree Munro.

After the top 2, it's a bunch of players in the middle with Taylor Edwards at the bottom and probably Erika Piancastelli 2nd from the bottom. Piancastelli is capable of throwing quick times, but her accuracy was very inconsistent and there were a couple instances where she simply wasn't prepared to throw. The baserunners clearly agreed as the most steal attempts were made on these 2 catchers. On the plus side, Piancastelli is a good hitter with power. The last catcher I'll comment on is Gwen Svekis. I believe her to be a better thrower than the numbers indicate. All attempts made on her were with Cat Osterman as the pitcher, all pitches were in tough locations to throw, and Chidester interfered (uncalled) with 2 of them.
