।।भैषज्यगुरु।।Medicine Buddha dhāraṇī and mantra

॥ ओं नमो भगवते भैषज्यगुरुवैडूर्यप्रभराजाय तथागतायार्हते सम्यक्सम्बुद्धाय । तद्यथा । ओं भैषज्ये भैषज्ये महाभैषज्ये भैषज्यराजसमुद्गते स्वाहा ॥
तद्यथा । ओं भैषज्ये भैषज्ये महाभैषज्ये भैषज्यराजसमुद्गते स्वाहा ॥
|| oṁ namo bhagavate bhaiṣajyaguruvaiḍūryaprabharājāya tathāgatāyārhate samyaksambuddhāya | tadyathā | oṁ bhaiṣajye bhaiṣajye mahābhaiṣajye bhaiṣajyarājasamudgate svāhā ||
tadyathā | oṁ bhaiṣajye bhaiṣajye mahābhaiṣajye bhaiṣajyarājasamudgate svāhā ||

Meaning:

oṁ | often used at the beginning of mantras, and understood as being formed from the combination of three letters: a u m understood as expressing, for example, the Three Kāyas.

namo | namaḥ, homage

bhagavate | to the Bhagavat, the one who has six types of ‘good fortune’, bhaga, or the one who has destroyed (bhagnavān) the Māras

bhaiṣajyaguruvaiḍūryaprabharājāya | bhaiṣajya-guru-vaiḍūrya-prabha-rājāya | to the king (rāja) of Vaiḍūrya-light, the medicine Guru.

tathāgatāya | to the the Tathāgata, the one who has ‘gone’ (gata) ‘in that way’ (tathā), i.e. in the perfect way that all the Buddhas have realized

arhate | to the Arhat, the one who has destroyed the enemies (ari), i.e. the mental afflictions

samyaksambuddhāya | samyak-sambuddhāya | to the perfect, complete Buddha, i.e. the Awakened one who is not only liberated but also omniscient

tadyathā | ‘it is as follows’, introductory expression often found when presenting a mantra or dhāraṇī
