"The risks we face may be serious, but they are not insurmountable."

The assurance was given by the Regional Manager for the Caribbean at CAF – Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, Dr. Stacy Richards-Kennedy.

Speaking at the 2nd Wider Caribbean Regional Risk Conference, she reminded that the risk landscape in the Caribbean is evolving in ways that demand our urgent attention.

"The Caribbean's risk landscape, as you all know, is not static. And when we think of risk, we often typically conjure images of hurricanes, floods, water scarcity, and coastal erosion. But the truth is, it is evolving so rapidly, and disasters are becoming much more frequent and much more costly for governments across the region."

She highlighted the importance of partnership: "As we look ahead, one of the clear lessons that we've learnt is that no single country and no single institution can tackle these multidimensional risks alone. The Caribbean's vulnerabilities are shared, and therefore so must be our solutions."

Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility Segregated Portfolio Company, Isaac Anthony, said these events are more than just an exchange of ideas.

"The high-level panels and interaction sessions will explore solutions for solving risks, governance, financing, climate adaptation, misinformation, social resilience, and private sector engagement, among others. The conference will produce a policy statement and a unified roadmap for action, advancing a collective agenda to strengthen resilience, close the protection gap, and ensuring sustainable prosperity for the region in an era of global uncertainty."

The theme for this year's two-day conference is "Perspectives on Country Risk Management to Advance Sustainable Development of the Small Island and Coastal States of the Region."
