It primarily relies on Soviet-era and Chinese aircraft, such as the MiG-21, MiG-23, and MiG-29 fighters, along with various bombers and transport planes. While lacking modern equipment and advanced training, the KPAAF compensates with a focus on quantity and asymmetric tactics, including a strong emphasis on air defense systems and the use of unconventional warfare strategies. Its main role is defensive, aiming to deter or counter attacks on North Korea.
