পিগমি জাতি একটি ছোট বয়স্ক মানবজাতি যা প্রধানতঃ উপসাগর ও মধ্য আফ্রিকার বনমাল্যান্দে বাস করে। এই জাতির লোকজন সাধারণত প্রাচীন ও আদিবাসী সংস্কৃতি এবং জীবনযাপন পদ্ধতি অনুসরণ করে। তাদের শারীরিক আকার সাধারণত খাটো এবং উচ্চতা সাধারণত ৪ ফুট পর্যন্ত হতে পারে। পিগমি জাতির জীবনযাপনের প্রধান উপাদান বন অর্থাৎ প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশের সাথে সম্পৃক্ত। তারা বনে বাস করে এবং ভালোভাবে মানুষের চেহারা থেকে অদৃশ্য থাকতে পরিচিত। তাদের অনুভূতিগত জীবনযাপনে শিকার এবং সংগ্রহকৃত খাবার মূল উৎস হিসাবে প্রধান। অনেকে তাদের জীবনযাপন এবং সামাজিক ব্যবস্থার সাথে প্রাকৃতিক পরিবেশ নিয়ে একটি সম্পর্ক অনুভব করেন। পিগমি জাতির সংখ্যা খুব স্বল্প, যা কিছু উপসাগর এলাকায় পর্যাপ্ত সমাধানের অভাবের ফলে মোটামুটি এই জাতির মানুষ বন্য জীবনযাপন করেন।

Pygmy people are a diverse group of ethnicities, primarily inhabiting the rainforests of Central Africa, as well as certain regions of Southeast Asia and other parts of the world. They are typically characterized by their short stature, with an average height of around 4 feet 11 inches (150 centimeters) or less.

Their lifestyle is often closely tied to the forest environment, and they have developed extensive knowledge of the flora and fauna of their surroundings. Traditionally, they are hunter-gatherers, relying on hunting, fishing, and gathering wild plants for sustenance.

Pygmy societies are often organized into small, nomadic groups, and they have rich cultural traditions, including music, dance, and elaborate oral histories. However, their traditional way of life is increasingly threatened by deforestation, encroachment by outside populations, and other modern challenges.

Despite these challenges, efforts are being made to support Pygmy communities and preserve their cultural heritage, as they are valuable contributors to the diversity of human cultures and the preservation of biodiversity in the regions they inhabit.
