Hiking in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness, Cascade Mountains, Oregon

Описание к видео Hiking in the Mount Jefferson Wilderness, Cascade Mountains, Oregon

The Mount Jefferson Wilderness located in the central Cascade mountain range in Oregon is the second most visited wilderness reserve in the state. Its centerpiece is Mount Jefferson, a snow and glacier-clad volcano rising to a height of 10,497 feet (3,200 meters). Some parts of the wilderness such as Jefferson Park and the Pamelia Lake areas are highly scenic and hence very well-known and heavily used. But for those willing to venture off the well-trodden track, there are many parts of the wilderness that still offer outstanding opportunities for solitude along with grand and glorious vistas.

This video was compiled from two separate hikes in the Breitenbush drainage in a less-frequented area of the wilderness. On both hikes, we had a high-country vantage point entirely to ourselves. The only company was the wind, a few well-behaved mosquitoes, and frogs croaking in a lake a thousand feet below us.
