Afterlife Helpers: The Psychopomp with Sheryl Gottschall
A psychopomp is a God or other being who guides or escorts the newly-dead on the dark paths to the Underworld. Psychopomps are present in many mythologies around the world and because of this, the afterlife they guide the soul into is not always identical.

There are many different ways of understanding life in cultures around the world, and many different answers we give to the mystery of death, but there are some common threads that show up about the passage into the afterlife.

In this presentation we will be exploring the role of psychopomps in history including shamanic practises, and what meaning that role may give to our modern understanding of the afterlife.
