The Union Home Ministry on Monday recommended a ban on 54 Chinese mobile applications. This also includes the popular game Garena Free Fire among others. However, #GarenaFreeFire is Singapore-based and the game’s developer does not hail from China. But this game was one of the most downloaded games in India in 2021. It also filled the space created by PUBG Mobile after its ban in September 2020. Garena Free Fire App was already removed from the Google Play Store and App Store in India.

Earlier in 2020, the government had also banned TikTok and other popular short video Chinese apps. Check out the full List of the banned Chinese Apps in India.
