Western AF presents "Visitor" by John Moreland.

In our latest travels as songcatchers, there has been one artist that we've deeply revered and acknowledge as a one the most important patron saints of beautifully, deep, and relatable songwriting in contemporary times. That is John Moreland, ladies and gentlemen.

While we were in Tulsa, we went to everyone's favorite watering-hole and a great destination for live music, the Mercury Lounge in Tulsa. There we ran into John purely by chance, and were encouraged by our great friends Kalyn and Bradley to approach him. And we gotta say. Don't let all the sad music fool you. John's a funny guy. We ended up talking about music, and life until the late hours of the night. We know why so many good artists live out there, it's a community worth growing with.

At the end of our trip, John called us to arrange a shoot with us. We were stoked. The song he wanted to give us was from is the title track off of his latest opus, 'Visitor.' John recorded the whole album in only ten days, and the result, is terrific. When we went out to shoot this, he told me of seeing this sign outside of a church, that simply said visitor, and how that inspired him to write this. He even gave me directions to go and find it for the video's sake.

It was a short but amazing meet up. I'll never forget that day when I was chasing the light with him and his wife Pearl, and telling jokes for a couple of hours. Short but sweet.

We felt like visitors ourselves coming into John's life so randomly, but we hope to stay as friends in our next visit. Thank you John, and thank you Pearl.
