Sitamarhi: When it comes to adding manure to the field, in today's time, farmers consider organic manure as the best option. Cattle dung is the most powerful and useful component in it. But it is very important to preserve it properly and use it. Today we are telling you a method by which farmers prepare not one but two powerful organic manures, vermicompost and vermiwash.

This indigenous technique is doing wonders in farming
Sitamarhi's agriculture expert Alok Kumar does organic farming on a large scale. He uses only organic manure in fruit and vegetable crops. He has created a special unit for cow dung conservation in a corner of the field, in which earthworms are put along with cow dung. This unit is covered with banana leaves so that moisture is maintained. The earthworms eat the cow dung and the excreta they excrete is called vermicompost. This process is completed in about 45 days. Along with this, the liquid that comes out of this unit is called vermi wash, which is used as a spray on crops and is very beneficial.

Process of preparing vermicompost

Dung collection: Cow dung is collected.

Vermicompost unit: The cow dung is kept in the vermicompost unit, in which earthworms are put.

Work of earthworms Earthworms eat the cow dung and excrete excreta, which prepares vermicompost.

Maintaining moisture: Cow dung has to be kept moist always.

Vermi wash: The water coming out of the cow dung can be used as vermicompost.

Use of vermicompost: Vermicompost can be added to plants and can also be sprayed. Benefits of vermicompost
Organic fertilizer: Vermicompost is an organic fertilizer which is very beneficial for plants.
Improves soil quality: Vermicompost improves soil quality.
Helps in plant growth: Vermicompost helps in plant growth.
Protection from pests and diseases: Vermicompost protects plants from pests and diseases
