I have been asked many times about the manner in which I draw my gun. Most people make the comment that it looks like I am wanting to draw a magazine out of my mag pouch each time I draw my gun. Well, it does look that way because my weak hand does the same movement as my strong hand. The draw movement that I use is what Saul Kirsch advocates as the body is then symmetrical during the draw. Both side of the body are doing the exact same movement which keeps the body symmetrical and balanced. Therefore, I am basically simulating that I am drawing a gun from my weak side and the first magazine on my belt is that gun. When I heard Saul Kirsch explain the reasoning behind this draw movement and after trying it, I adopted this movement and I highly recommend it.

This video explains my draw movement and what the benefits are of drawing in that manner in comparison to the more traditional manner where the weak hand is waiting for the strong hand / gun at the chest. The video is in two parts: Part 1 - Factors to Consider covers the basic of my draw movement. Part 2 - More Factors to consider covers the advantage I have with this draw movement on an unloaded start.

Part 1 - Factor to Consider, outlines the importance of a good stance, minimal to no movement in the head and shoulder during the draw, when to pickup your front sight, my overall draw movement, etc. As for the draw itself, I use the Up Down and Out draw. Although, it's more of a hybrid between the Snatch Draw and the Up Down and Out Draw. I come down on my gun a little lighter than what you would in a true Up Down and Out Draw. I will discuss types of draws in another video which will be part of this video series.

Part 2 - More Factors to Consider, outlines the reasons why I believe my draw movement helps me obtain a faster draw overall but more specifically on an unloaded start.
